Endowed Chair Appointment

Congratulations, Dr. Opresko! It was announced today that Dr. Opresko is honored with the Dr. Bernard F. Fisher Chair for Breast Cancer Discovery Science, a newly formed chair. Patty was chosen for this prestigious award due to her innovative and impactful work that furthers our understanding of how telomeres protect the genome and prevent cancer and premature aging.

Patty is the co-leader of the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center’s Genome Stability Program, professor of Environmental and Occupational Health, and professor of Pharmacology and Chemical Biology. She was recently elected at the Vice President of the Environmental Mutagenesis and Genomics Society, and she chaired the 2023 Gordon Research Conference on DNA Repair.
